First Snow
04:06
|
|||
The first snow falls of Winter
As her face lies on the ground
Covering the grass and trees
In a land so safe and sound
It echoes through the valley
It echoes through the trees
The winds have all appeared again
Sweeping land and sea
Won’t you snow?
Let it snow
And away we will go

The Red Door
05:40
|
|||
The morning light pours on the hill
The winds have all died down
A path that once was buried
Has a reason to be found
The trail leads deeper in the woods
It twists and turns around
What do you know
There’s heard an awful sound
Two tall pine trees stand in your way
And suddenly through the snow
Comes an opening to whisk you away
Where else would you go?
Through the red door
Through the red door
Through the red door
The door is closed behind you
The wind has slammed it shut
Left to your own devices
In this land of who knows what!
It’s all strangely familiar
But all still so surreal
What do you know
There’s something in the fields
So atop the highest mountain peaks
Or in the caves of ice and snow
Faeries and creatures play
Lost and stranded
You must find your way home
But such is winter’s way
Through the red door
Through the red door
Through the red door

Faeries Wear Gloves
03:50

Out in the field, they dance in the night
Fa la la la la la la la
Small winged creatures that squeal with delight
Fa la la la la la la la
Come on now Rosemary, Daisy and Sprite!
Fa la la la la la la
Fa la la la la la la
Fa la la la la la la
Fa la la la la la la
Little lights float in the air on display
Fa la la la la la la la
Snatching small trinkets as if all the same
Fa la la la la la la la
Meddling mischief, oh what a game!
Fa la la la la la la
Fa la la la la la la
Fa la la la la la la
Fa la la la la la la
“Hmm, I’ve got you now!”
Fa la la la la la la
Fa la la la la la la
Fa la la la la la la
Fa la la la la la la
Who is this traveler coming this way?
Fa la la la la la la la
Another poor soul whose been led astray
Fa la la la la la la la
Brave to step foot in the land of the Fae!

The Weather Oracle
04:09
|
|||
Oh weather oracle
What do you see?
Oh weather oracle
Tell us please!
Oh weather oracle
What do you see!
Fulfill our yearly prophecy
Oh weather oracle
What say you?
Oh weather oracle
What do we do?
Oh weather oracle
What say you?
The future of winter depends on you
Six more weeks is what I say
I see it in the shadows and the clouds of gray
Winter has landed and here to stay
It’s told in prophecy as clear as day
See, I am no mortal, but a god among man
I can see things you can’t comprehend
The gift of my visions you’ll never understand
So I present them to you
My circle of elders, they call out my name
Patiently waiting until this very day
When I leave Gobbler’s Knob and show my face
And speak to you the truth
Oh weather oracle
What say you?
Oh weather oracle
What say you?
Oh weather oracle
What say you?
The future of winter depends on you
Oh weather oracle
I just have a question
Regarding the validity of your prediction
You’re just a little guy
A rodent in disguise
So how can I believe my eyes and trust it’s not all fiction?
Now listen here and watch it son
Don’t call me no rodent, you best hold your tongue
I run this town, hell I’m number one
The power I hold is second to none because
I am no mortal, but a god among man
I can see things you can’t comprehend
The gift of my visions you’ll never understand
I’ll present them to you
My circle of elders, they’re calling my name
They’ve been patiently waiting until this very day
I’ll leave Gobbler’s Knob and show my face
And speak to you the truth
“It’s a tradition, before we get Phil out, we get him fired up by chanting PHIL PHIL PHIL PHIL PHIL PHIL PHIL PHIL!”
See, I am no mortal, but a god among man
I can see things you can’t comprehend
The gift of my visions you’ll never understand
But now I must leave you
My circle of elders, they’ve called out my name
The prophet has spoken all he has to say
But I will see you again on the second day
Of February of next year
Oh weather oracle
What say you?
Oh weather oracle
What say you?
Oh weather oracle
What say you?
The future of winter depends on you

Second Snow
03:24
|
|||
The second snow of winter
No woman in your bed
When you wake up in the morning
With a blizzard in your head
You stumble out the front door
Fall face first on the ground
The winds of winter sweep you up
As you’re carried from the town
Won’t you snow?
Let it snow
And away you will go
Won’t you snow?
Let it snow
And away you will go
Standing on a hill
Looking down below
Several hundred figures in a line
Holding sticks and stones
Armed and ready to throw
But a sudden misstep pulls you a-tumblin’ tumblin’ tumblin’ tumblin’ down
Tumblin’ tumblin’ tumblin’ tumblin’ down

They line up with their wooden artillery
Firing shots across the valley
Formations are broken and then reformed
With the bravest of faces, they go to war
Cannonballs of ice fly through the lines of the enemy
Scattering chunks of snow, coal, sticks, and what’s left of round bodies
Snowmen fall one by one
But that doesn’t mean a soldier’s duty is done
Surrounded by all sides
Successfully caught by the crossfire
With nowhere left to run
You can hear the bullets come
Suddenly, the sharpest pain rips through your chest
Brings you to your knees, gasping for air you try your best
The darkness is closing in
You know deep down you can’t win

Winter's Way
11:46
|
|||
Part I:
Ice cold shivers
Run down my spine
Weight of heavy
Load deep inside
Snowy mountains upside down
Spinning through the forests as I go
I’ll never leave this world behind
It’s by design I call this my home
So such is winter’s way
And if I were to die tonight
In this land beyond, where would I go?
Is there a heaven? Is there a hell?
Beyond the door, all covered in snow
Or just winter’s way?
If I sleep, wake me up again
Don’t let me fall to the wind
I can see her shape coming through the mist
Please make it all make sense
Part II:
Rest now, your head love
And do close your eyes
There’s no one else here now
Except the fire and I
Oh my, my, can you hear the blizzard outside?
Such weary travelers as yourself, you must know
Your own limitations in the land of my snow
Oh, oh, at least you weren’t after the gold
You’ve learned your lesson,
So you best be on your way
Part III:
Fire
Shaking off the heat from the embers, the embers
And fall
Out of the flames and on a packed mound of snow
Run
Running hard as my feet will take me, away from here
Deep
Deep into the night as the forest engulfs me
Past the pines and through the wood
Branches wave to signify they know
What is up and what is down?
The maze it twists and turns and starts to glow
Such is winter’s way
There is a tunnel surrounded by pines
A light is opening into my eyes
After all this time, to see what I have seen
Be where I have been, oh
The spring pours on my face
The spring pours on my face

The Red Door (Reprise)
02:42
|
|||
Two tall pine trees, out you are thrown
Not such a pleasant stay
Lost and stranded
You’ve found your way home
Surviving winter’s way
Through the red door
Through the red door
