Sven B. Schreiber (sbs) The first thing that becomes obvious while peeking into this EP is Ned Greenough's excellent voice. The second thing, not much later, is his great sense of putting together a song that quickly sticks in memory. If you like this EP, try the full-length album "A Drop in the Bucket", too. Same high songwriting standard - but 53:19 total running time! Favorite track: Ghost of a Memory.

Long ago and far away Love was a much simpler game to play We held our cards and we knew them well But we’d never show them, we’d never tell But there was one I held the most Trusted so and kept real close She was my best friend, though we’ve lost touch now She was the first ever love I found I remember when we used to talk For hours on end about nonsense thoughts She played the keys and so did I When she performed my eyes went wide Her hair was a perfect golden blonde With eyes that sparkled and shined right on When she smiled at me, my heart would fly I’d catch my feelings just to take the dive She could tell me anything And I’d believe every word she’d say With a laugh or a cry, I’d hang on every line But it was only a matter of time When we grew up, well, things got strange Her politics got her all deranged So I stole her poem and wrote a song That my friend and I played all summer long Looking back those times were great Full of love and grand mistakes But it's not over, there’s more to come I’m a kid that’s trying too hard too young After all Is said and done I’m glad it’s left The way it was Like little songbirds in the sky You ought to spread your wings and fly

Bolton Strid 04:18
A morning walk through autumn trees The hum of water from a nearby stream A peaceful feeling comes in waves The sense of serenity engulfs this place In the clearing, there’s a small creek Shrouded by autumn's mystique A beauty fair, complimented by Yorkshire air Step closer to the edge The water’s warm and inviting in No one else is here to see How bad could one swim really be? ‘Cause the feeling, overcomes you A calling, you feel in truth To just go in, take a dip in the Bolton Strid But it pulls you down Far too quick To catch your breath In the rolling Strid You tumble through Those shallow holes As you’re ripped down further In the undertow, the undertow There’s something, in the water That I haven’t, seen before Floating downstream, I wonder what on earth it could be?

The Chance 03:58
People always come and people always go Each one leads down a different road Some of love and some of hate But you’re at the crossroads and there’s no turning back And you decide to take the less trodden path There’s still no guarantee I, I am tired of relying on guesses and thoughts She sounds perfect, I know I could be wrong But I’m taking a chance here I’m going in strong ‘Cause I think that I’m right, we could be a perfect pair In fact I’ll introduce myself right here But everything is different, everything has changed I don’t know the rules to the simplest of games What am I supposed to do? She wouldn’t bat an eye, wouldn’t give me a glance All I’m asking is to give me a chance Is that too much to ask from you? But here, here I am with nothing at all to show I’m pretending it doesn’t hurt to be alone I’ll miss you but you’ll never know ‘Cause I’m here by myself wondering where it all went wrong When all I did was say hello Oh People always come and people always go Each one leads down a different road Sometimes it’s best to walk away

Lonely winter nights Kept you aware Of what it was like To wake up and see she’s not there Cold winds blow that call her name The one you couldn’t save Oh, couldn’t save, Oh Run to the hearth To splash the embers out Kick open the door Outside snow falls all around You run to the glade where she used to dance A memory that will last Oh, bring it back, Oh Something inside of you feels a call from the beyond It beckons you closer, you swear you feel her warmth You close your eyes to sense it, afraid it might be gone Suddenly your eyes open and see a figure through the snow A ghost from a memory of love lost from years ago You run to embrace her but she turns to an ever white glow Cold winds blow that call her name She comforts gently She kisses his face And fades away to grey “I’ll see you someday”
